The management of Kangaru Girls’ High School has come under fire for negligence after a Form Two student at the institution was allegedly defiled when she was sent home by the school.
It remains unclear why the minor was sent away from school.
The victim, 15, was allegedly sexually assaulted for two days at an Embu Town guest house.
A middle-aged man, identified as Kennedy Gitonga Kaburu, was arrested on suspicion of defiling the minor.
Commotion in a room that Gitonga had booked himself into last weekend, captured the attention of the lodging attendant.
The lodging attendant found Gitonga with the minor after gaining access into the room. Police arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect.
He was charged with defilement at an Embu court on May 12. Gitonga pleaded not guilty to the charge, and was released on a bond of KSh200, 000.
The suspect also faces another charge of committing indecent act with a minor.
The case will be heard on May 29.
Meanwhile, the management of Kangaru Girls’ High School is at pains to explain why they allowed the girl back to school without informing her parents about the ordeal she went through.
