A 28 year old man was on Tuesday arraigned in Embu Law Court and charged with defiling a 23 year old woman suffering from mental disability at Kibugu village in Embu North sub-county.
David Mugo Kariuki appeared before Resident Magistrate Jean Ndengeri and denied the charges.
Mugo is charged that, on December 24 2017, he intentionally and unlawfully committed an act that led to the “penetration of his genital into the genital organs of said woman by the use of force.”
The accused also faced an alternative charge of indecent act with the woman by touching her genitals with his hands.
Mugo was said to have visited the home of the woman and ensured nobody else was around before using a piece of clothing to cover her mouth and then dragging her into a nearby coffee plantation where he defiled her.
The woman informed her family members about the ordeal, and the man was later arrested after she identified him as she knew who he was.
Mugo was released by the court on a Ksh. 200, 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.
The case was set for hearing on January 23 2018
