A 39-year-old woman, Susan Wangari, from Mithanga Village in Kangema, Murang’a County was on Saturday night (August 19) found murdered.
Peter Njuguna, the prime suspect behind Wangari’s murder, is her lover of five years. The pair kick-started a relationship three years after the death of Wangari’s husband.
According to Wangari’s relative, Mary Njambi, Wangari’s daughter phoned her Saturday 9pm to inform her that her mother was in critical condition after she was attacked by her lover.
Njambi says she rushed to Wangari’s house, where she found her lying unconscious in a pool of blood.
“It was a shocking, heartbreaking sight! My kin had blood coming out of her eyes, nose among other body openings,” said Njambi.
Njambi says Wangari’s daughter explained to her what had transpired on that fateful night.
According to Wangari’s daughter, the suspect picked a quarrel with her mother after he accused her of cheating on him. The fight would turn dangerous when the suspect began stabbing Wangari with a knife in the head and face as her daughter watched.
Wangari died due to excessive bleeding.
Wangari’s mother-in-law, Elizipah Wanjiku, 76, has urged the police to apprehend the suspect and speed up investigations into Wangari’s murder.
The deceased’s burial is slated for Friday, August 25.
Wanjiku has urged well-wishers to help her raise Wangari’s three children, who have been left orphaned.
Confirming the incident, Kangema OCPD Cosmas Wachang’oka said police have launched a man hunt for the suspect.
Wachang’oka says the suspect, when found, will be arraigned on murder charges.
