Police in Kinangop, Nyandarua County are investigating an incident where a middle-aged man attempted to hang himself inside a toilet at St Anthony Catholic Church in Engineer area on Sunday, December 11.
The man was, however, rescued by congregants and rushed to North Kinangop Catholic Hospital, where he is still admitted.
The man had attempted to kill himself by hanging from a rope tied to the toilet girders.
It is not yet established why the man wanted to end his life.
Engineer police boss Samson Munyao said no member of the public has filed a formal report with his office, but says he had heard of the reports from the church congregation.
North Kinangop Catholic Hospital prohibited police officers from accessing the ward where the attempted suicide suspect had been admitted to.
