A 58-year-old man from Sailoo Village in Chepcholiet, Londiani Sub-County, Kericho County, has been arrested on suspicion of impregnating his 18-year-old daughter.
Chepchoilet assistant chief Stephen Korir says Geoffrey Langat is suspected to have been in a sexual relationship with his daughter since the death of his wife in July, 2017.
Korir says the man reportedly threatened his daughter with unspecified consequences should she not sleep with him.
When neighbours got wind of Langat’s incestuous act in February, 2018, the suspect fled his home.
He returned home on Monday, April 16, when he was confronted by his 22-year-old son, who enquired why he (Langat) impregnated the teenager.
The suspect, reportedly, went berserk threatening to harm his son using an arrow and crude weapons.
The teenager was seven months pregnant, when her brother, who had been away from home, made the discovery.
Neighbours, who heard the suspect’s son screaming for help, rushed to the scene, where they captured the man and handed him over to officers at Chepseon Police Station.
Langat remains in police custody as investigations into the matter continue.
