Classic 105 FM presenter Maina Kageni has revealed that renowned Sports journalist Carol Radull is “no longer married”.

Maina made the revelation on Classic 105 FM’s Breakfast Show on Wednesday, April 26, when a fan, he said, texted the station to say: “Marriages do work, and an example of a person in a happy union is Carol Radull”.

Maina responded to the fan, on air, saying: “Breaking news! Carol Radull is no longer married.”

The station’s topic of discussion Wednesday morning was centered on the institution of marriage, with the presenters (Maina Kageni and Mwalimu King’ang’i) posing the question on the necessity of a marriage setting to women.

“A lady said that she has been with a man for eight years and have kids and a career, (but the two were not married – and that the lady was okay with the arrangement),” twitted Classic 105 FM Wednesday morning.

“The new trend is women having a man for convenience. Ladies, is this all you want?” read another tweet on the station’s handle.

And with several listeners texting and calling the station in support of; or in disapproval of the non-marriage type of relationships, one fan said marriages do work – and Carol Radull’s union to Mike Njiru is a good example of a “great” union.

Maina dropped an unexpected bombshell – on air – revealing that Ms Radull and Mr Njiru are no longer an item. Both Radull and Maina work at Radio Africa Group, and sources say the two are close friends.

Early April, reports were rife on Pulse magazine that Ms Radull and Mr Njiru were undergoing a turbulent phase in their marriage.

None of the power couple is yet to make an official statement regarding the status of their union.

Meanwhile, reports claim Ms Radull had even dropped the Njiru name from all her applications.

The two tied the knot in a lavish private wedding that was held at Ocean Beach resort in Diani in 2009.
