Kenyan Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o recently went on a sneaker shopping spree and spent slightly over Ksh.300,000 for just five pairs.
In a YouTube video dated March 25,2019, Lupita and fellow thespian Winston Duke went shopping with Complex in what was seemingly a bid to promote their new horror movie ‘Us.’
The two film stars, after a brief conversation with Complex’s Joe La Puma, scoured around the New York City-based Stadium Goods shop and picked a total of five shoes between them.
The bill for the sneakers came to a total of $3259 (Ksh.328,507).
Interestingly, however, Lupita had only picked two pairs of sneakers but decided to pick the entire tab, including for those that had been selected by Duke.
The Oscar award winner also, in the video, spoke about supporting Kenyan-produced ‘Enda’ running shoes saying “we have a lot of runners, and we’re famous for that, and it’s like it’s about time that had a homegrown sneaker.”
Lupita’s new movie – ‘Us’, directed by Jordan Peele – made an estimated $70.3 (Ksh.7,056,000,000) million in North America this past weekend; more than tripling its production budget of $20 million.
