Lupita Nyong’o is no doubt a star representing Kenya in Hollywood. The Oscar award-winning actress is set to feature in a science-fiction thriller known as ‘Intelligent life.’
The talented actress is to play the role of a mysterious woman who turns out to be an extraterrestrial.
The lead character falls in love with an enigmatic woman, due to be played by Nyong’o, only to discover that she is an alien.
The movie ‘Intelligent Life’ is based on an earlier project titled ‘The Ambassador’, about a United Nations department, set up to provide the first contact in the event of discovery of alien life.
Nyong’o is surely a rising star in Hollywood from her award-winning Oscar role in the movie 12 years a slave to her role as a diminutive alien with mysterious powers in the space opera blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens, topping it up is her role as Raksha, the fiercely protective mother of Mowgli in Disney’s ‘The Jungle Book,’ set to premiere on April 15, 2016.
In addition, Nyong’o will also play the mother to a chess prodigy in the same studio’s true-life-inspired ‘The Queen of Katwe’ with David Oyelowo.
But in addition to her acting, Lupita has also branded herself as a fashion icon. She has starred in several international advertising campaigns; she has also been named as the face of top cosmetics company Lancôme.
Despite her Hollywood success story, Manzi Wa Nairobi rapper Nonini juxtaposed the acting careers of Lupita and fellow Kenyan actor Edi Gathegi, insinuating that Gathegi’s studded resume deserved more praise in Kenya.
“Lupita only did 2 movies and that got Kenyans really excited and proud of having one of their own in Hollywood. But have Kenyans ever heard of Eddie Mua Gathegi? He’s Kenyan and has been in more than 15 Hollywood blockbuster movies!” posted the genge artiste.
With that aside, it seems that Lupita is set for more great blockbusters to come in the Hollywood arena.
