Lupita Nyong’o in Kenya for grandmother’s burial

Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o is in Kenya for the burial of her grandmother Dorcas Owino.

Ms Owino, who will be laid to rest on Friday, June 14, died aged 98 on May 28 at her Nairobi home.

Lupita jetted into Kenya mid this week for Ms Owino’s burial.

The nonagenarian, who is Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o’s mother, will be interred at her matrimonial home in Rata, Seme in Kisumu County.

Her body arrived in Kisumu Wednesday morning ahead of her Friday burial.

Governor Nyong’o, his wife Dorothy and son Junior Nyong’o and a number of other relatives flew with the body from Nairobi to Kisumu.

At the airport, it was received by Deputy Governor Mathews Owili, County Finance CEC Nerry Achar, several friends and relatives of the family.

Locals will also be given a chance to view the body, before it is taken to the late Mzee Hesbon Nyong’o’s home for burial.
