If you thought Lupita Nyong’o’s star would wane after her Oscar Award for her work in 12 Years A Slave, think again!
The Kenyan-born actress has landed yet another role in a much-hyped Hollywood flick: Black Panther – a standalone superhero film based on Marvel Comics, the makers of Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine and others.
Lupita will be playing the role of Nakia, the main love interest of the lead character, Black Panther.
The film boasts of an enviable list of character including Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan and Danai Gurira.
Aside from the A-list actors and the Marvel Comics’ fame, the film is touted to be a ground breaker because this is the first time that Marvel is releasing a film with a largely black cast.
“As the comics have done, we want everyone to recognize themselves in every portion of our universe. With the Black Panther and Spider-Man casts especially, it really feels like this is absolutely what has to happen and continue,” Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, said in statement to newsrooms.
The film will boost Lupita’s already impressive resume, as the start has featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Jungle Book, and Non-Stop.
