The wife of Githunguri MP has denied online reports, which claimed she was a victim of domestic violence.
Last week, Facebook was awash with claims that Githunguri lawmaker, Kago wa Lydia, had battered his wife, Emily Kago, after she allegedly inquired why he cheated on her.
Mrs Kago had allegedly expressed rage at the lawmaker, saying she was “tired of treating sexually transmitted infections (STDs), yet she was faithful to Mr Kago”.
The online reports further alleged that Mrs Kago had sought treatment for STIs three times in a span of just a year.
And now, Mrs Kago has come out to refute claims that she was a victim of physical harm inflicted by her husband.
“They want to tarnish the name of Mheshimiwa [Mr Kago],” she told journalists in Kiambu town during a press conference Sunday.
“I want to register my disappointment about the information that has been trending on social media, touching on my personal and family life,” said Mrs Kago.
“I want to categorically state that I was not involved in any way in the circulating information which is misleading and has an intention of tarnishing my name and that of my family members.
“I wish to tell all those bloggers and politicians, who are politicizing the information to desist from doing so with immediate effect; and to leave my family affairs to myself, my children and husband,” said Mrs Kago.
When EDAILY sought Mr Kago’s comment about the allegations on phone last Friday, his response was brief. He said: “The truth will come out – soon.”
