Swaziland leader, King Mswati III, now says any man who is interested in marrying his 30-year-old daughter, Princess Sikhanyiso, will have to part with 300 heads of cattle, reports The Citizen.
The condition was revealed after a Malawian man, namely Mzwakhe Phiri, approached the king with 50 heads of cattle in August as he was seeking Sikhanyiso’s hand in marriage.
Phiri was born in Swaziland, but his late grandfather came from Malawi.
The 30-year-old man was turned away, despite an initial belief that the 50 cows would convince Mswati into giving him his daughter.
Princess Sikhanyiso is the king’s eldest daughter from his first wife, Inkhosikati LaMbikiza. She studied in the UK, the US and Australia and holds a master’s degree in digital communication.
