A middle-aged man from Karai trading centre in Naivasha stunned residents Wednesday evening by cutting off his penis, claiming he found it useless.
The man, an Akorino faithful, locked himself in the house and unsuccessfully tried to chop off his manhood using a razor blade before shifting to a kitchen knife, which did the job. He, reportedly, thereafter threw the blood-drenched organ to dogs.
Unable to contain the pain and stop the bleeding following his action, the man screamed out for help from his neighbours, who rushed to his house and informed the police about the incident.
Help came the man’s way nearly 30 minutes later, when the police arrived and took him to Naivasha Sub-County Hospital.
According to the man’s neighbour, Joseph Chege, the Akorino faithful is a quarry worker who rarely interacts with the community around him.
One of the area leaders, James Kabono, expressed shock at the incident. “I am shocked that he decided to cut off a man’s most important part of the body,” said Mr Kabono.
Naivasha Sub-County Hospital superintendent, Dr. Joseph Mburu, said the man is in stable condition after he was admitted to the facility.
“He lost a lot of blood. We have taken him to the theatre for surgery. He is in stable condition; and we hope he will recover,” said Dr. Mburu.
The man’s severed todger is yet to be found.
