Renowned American rap artists Kanye West and Jay-Z have been sued by a fan.
Kanye had announced that his latest album, The Life of Pablo will only be available on Tidal but it seems this is not the case anymore.
The fan, Justin Baker Rhett is suing the two musicians under the claim that both of them tricked people into subscribing to the music streaming service Tidal, which is owned by rapper Jay-Z by notifying people that Kanye’s latest album will only be available there.
Apparently, Kanye did not stick to his words as the album was released on different platforms. He even made it available on his own website.
However, it seems that this is not all, in his lawsuit; Baker pointed out that fan privacy was violated.
It is alleged that fans who subscribed to Tidal were being forced to turn over their credit card and other personal information.
According to an article published by The Telegram, an online publication, Baker’s lawyer, Jay Edelson stated that one cannot trick people into paying money and giving up personal information just because the company is struggling.
The company Tidal is owned by various artists such as Kanye West, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Deadmau5, Alicia Keys, Madonna, Chris Martin, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Jack White just to name but few.
