Jose Chameleone breaks his silence on Daniella divorce reports

Seasoned Ugandan singer Jose Chameleone has broken his silence on reports claiming that his wife, Daniella Atim, has filed for a divorce from him.

Chameleone, says contrary to reports by Ugandan media, he is unaware of any divorce documents filed in court; and that his family is intact.

“What God put together, no man shall put apart! We are not angels. So, no one is perfect.  It’s not the times a man falls that matter but his strength to stand again. I love you so much, Daniella. Regardless of what is spreading around, we stuck together so they should know. There shall be no divorce as reported,” said Jose Chameleone on Facebook on Wednesday, April 19.

Uganda’s New Vision on Wednesday, April 19, reported that Daniella Atim on Tuesday, April 18, asked Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court to annul her marriage on grounds of cruelty.

The outlet says Ms Atim stated in her petition number 72 of 2017 that Jose Chameleone “batters and tortures her and the children”.

According to the petition, Chameleone and Daniela tied the knot on June 7, 2008, at St. James Bbiina, Mutungo, a Kampala suburb.

The couple has been with four children namely: Abba Mayanja, 11, Alfa Mayanja, 8, Alba Mayanja, 4 and Amama Mayanja, 3.

Through Okurut and Company Advocates, Ms Atim stated that in 2013, Jose Chameleone started physically torturing her and sometimes he would go home drunk and beat her up without any reason.

In order to hide the bruises and wounds on her face, she would allegedly go to hospitals for treatment, veil herself and sometimes run to her friends’ homes to hide from her husband, reports New Vision.

Ms Atim claims that Jose Chameleone is ill-mannered and to protect herself from being killed, she has separated beds with him.

Ms Atim said that Chameleone disrespects her before her children, is verbally abusive, constantly belittles her before them and physically abuses the children too.

“Your petitioner’s life is in danger. The respondent has severally threatened to kill her and has been mistreating her a lot,” stated the petition.

Ms Atim said that she has, on several times, tried to work out things between herself and Chameleone, but her efforts have been fruitless.

Ms Atim claims she has visited several religious leaders and friends but her husband has refused to heed to the advice. Instead, his manners have worsened. She says she is uncertain of Jose Chameleone’s next move.

Ms Atim has asked the court to dissolve her marriage and put a permanent injunction restraining him from ever coming close to her. She also wants Chameleone to pay for the costs of the suit.

The case has been allocated to the Court’s grade one magistrate, Margaret Aanyu. Chameleone has been given 15 days to respond.
