Emmanuel Otieno Jadudi has been diagnosed with another brain tumor, just months after he underwent a successful surgery to remove a cancerous growth.
Zawadi Nyong’o – Lupita Nyong’o’s elder sister– broke the sad news on Twitter on Tuesday, May 3.
Ms Nyongo said they did not know the implications of Jadudi’s brain second tumor.
Zawadi said Jadudi was undergoing several tests, including the electroencephalogram, which detects abnormalities in the brain’s electrical activity.
Zawadi Nyong’o revealed that Jadudi had been flown to India six days before for his medical review after he was operated on, August last year.
“Jadudi was supposed to be gone for two weeks, but he said he was not really looking forward to the trip and hoped he would be done and back home within a week,” said Nyong’o.
Zawadi received the sad news on Saturday.
“This young man and his parents continue to demonstrate the power of incredible optimism and faith. Jadudi has taught me many things, resilience is just one. Please stand with them in prayer as the doctors deliberate on next steps.”
Jadudi, who had Grade III Ependymoma, is a third year political science and sociology student at the University of Nairobi.
His plight caught Kenyans’ attention when blogger Biko Zulu highlighted it through a post titled That Thing In Jadudi’s Head.
Zawadi Nyong’o’s Africa Cancer Foundation thus opened an M-Pesa account through which donations for Jadudi’s treatment were made.
Through #1MiliForJadudi, KSh6 million was raised in 28 hours, surpassing a target of KSh1 million.
Jadudi was first diagnosed with brain tumor in 2012.
