Jackie Chandiru’s manager, Juliet Nattabi Erusa, has refuted rumours doing the rounds on social media that the Gold Digger hit-maker is dead.
False news about the singer’s death spread like bushfire in Uganda early Sunday, consequently causing panic among her fans and players in Uganda’s entertainment industry.
Uganda’s Howwe.Biz reports that Ms Erusa has confirmed the singer’s wellbeing.
“Information about Jackie’s death is not true. She is alive and well,” Jackie’s manager told the entertainment outlet.
Juliet says the singer, who is currently admitted at a rehab facility in Bunamwaya, is responding well to treatment.
Uncertainty over Jackie’s health arose after a Facebook group in Uganda posted “R.I.P Jackie Chandiru” message on its platform.
Thereafter, the phony news found its way on various WhatsApp groups with users receiving the message in disbelief.
This is not the first time that Jackie Chandiru is killed by the internet; the same happened on social media in 2013.
The recent false information comes at a time when the singer’s family revealed that she will soon be flown to the United Kingdom for further treatment.
Chandiru’s Dutch ex-husband Nol Van Vliet will offer financial assistance, according to family sources.
Jackie has been battling drug addiction – a fight that has reduced the talented musician to a frail shadow of her previously voluptuous frame.
