It’s over: Rich Mavoko wins big in case against Diamond’s WCB

Tanzanian musician Rich Mavoko has been allowed to terminate his contract with Diamond Platnumz’s record label Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB), Tanzania’s Global Publishers reports.

Tanzania’s arts and music board, Basata, on Thursday, August 9 okayed Mavoko’s request to ditch the company after 2 years-and-2 months at the record label.

It remains unclear why Rich Mavoko opted out of WCB, though in a previous interview he insinuated that the WCB management was bent on overworking him.

Rich Mavoko, in the July interview with Kwanza TV, said Diamond Platnumz was constantly on his case, goading him to release several songs without taking a break.

Rich Mavoko said he, sometimes, avoided Diamond Platnumz because the “Love You Die” star only held work-related conversations with him, and nothing else.

The “Follow Me” star said the WCB management only wanted things done their way, without putting into consideration his desires.

Rumours of Mavoko’s itch to ditch WCB, following his dissatisfaction at the company, first surfaced in June, 2018.

Some quotas, however, claimed Rich Mavoko was expelled from WCB.

WCB management, led by Babu Tale, is yet to comment on Rich Mavoko’s case.

Prior to joining WCB, Mavoko was signed to Kenya’s Kaka Empire, owned by musician King Kaka.
