Central Organistaion of Trades Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has distanced himself from a Facebook post disparaging President Uhuru Kenyatta’s leadership, saying the sentiments – which were attributed to him – were not his.

A Facebook fan page named Kenya Political Forum had earlier made a post claiming that the political leader said Uhuru should not be voted in come 2017.

“We cannot risk giving Uhuru Kenyatta another five years. An extension of such opportunity would leave the country more wounded and dry. We would be unfair to ourselves, to the future generation and to God. Kenya is greater than Uhuru more than a million time,” read the quote, which was attributed to Atwoli.

Atwoli, who said he was out of the country on official business when the statement was posted, has now rubbished the anti-Uhuru sentiments.

“Any such malicious statements attributed to me are fallacious and their propagators hiding behind parody accounts or otherwise should know better,” he said.

Terming such statements as mere propaganda in a circular to newsrooms on November 6, Atwoli stated that that he “does not speak through proxies or agents”.

The COTU Secretary General is reportedly out of the country attending the ILO governing body in Geneva, Switzerland since October 27, 2016.
