A 45-year-old man from Kericho County surrendered to the police on Saturday, April 6 after killing his wife on claims he caught her in bed with another man.
Julius Rotich, a farmer, claimed he arrived at his home located at Kaplelach Village in Sigowet-Soin Constituency in Kericho County on Friday night, when he found his wife, Rachel Rotich, having sexual intercourse with her lover.
Rotich told Soin Location chief, Paul Cheruiyot, that he confronted his unfaithful wife, and a fight followed thereafter.
Rachel, 40, ran out of the house, but before she could go far, her panga-wielding husband cornered and hacked her in the head, killing her on the spot.
Rachel’s lover fled the scene unscathed, claimed the suspect.
Upon killing his wife, Rotich called chief Cheruiyot on phone and told him what had transpired.
Rotich surrendered to the police, who arrived at the scene of crime and found the murder weapon.
Investigations are underway, with the suspect held in custody at Kipsitet police post.
Chief Cheruiyot said Rotich and Rachel, who are parents to eight children and were married for 21 years, had a history of domestic wrangles.
Rachel’s body was taken to Kericho County Referral Hospital mortuary.
