Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto surprised attendees of the Jaguar Youth Empowerment Foundation launch Wednesday evening when he said he did not know gospel singer Size 8, born Linnet Munyali, is expectant.
Despite Size 8’s pregnancy having made it in the news occasionally, Ruto confessed it was during the launch when he actually realised the Mateke singer is heavily expectant.
Size 8 had asked the DP to join her and Jaguar in dancing to ‘Mateke’; it is at that point when Ruto got a glimpse of Linnet’s baby bump.
He said: “I want to make an apology to Size 8 first. When she called me to join her in the Mateke dance, I didn’t know she was expectant. But it’s a good thing.”
The remarks by the DP spiked laughter among the audience who were taken aback by his comment.
Ruto also urged the heavily expectant gospel singer to take advantage of the free maternity services offered by the government and make sure she delivers her baby “for free.”
“I want to urge you (Size 8) to take full advantage of the free maternity services we as the government are offering. When the time comes, just make sure you go to any (public) hospital that offer maternity services and deliver your baby free of charge.”
Size 8 is expecting her first born with celebrity husband Sammy Muraya aka DJ Mo. The baby is due before the end of the year.
The artiste confirmed the pregnancy in April this year but declined to give details on the estimated date of delivery.
