A 27-year-old man from Embu surprised Senior Resident Magistrate Vincent Nyakundi Thursday, when he said he was forced to move out of his parents’ home and look for a job – by all means – after his father married a second wife.
John Mugo, who pleaded guilty of driving without a license, said he only got driver jobs; and his desperation could not allow him to reject the offers.
He said he has not gone to any driving school, hence the reason he does not have a driving license.
The court heard that on July 12 at 9:30am, Mr Mugo was arrested driving a Toyota Probox of registration plate KBU 435U on Embu-Kiritiri road without a driving license and inspection sticker.
Mr Mugo said he “had nowhere to go” after his father brought a second wife to “their” home.
The traffic offender pleaded for a lenient sentence, saying he has a young family depending on him for survival.
Senior Resident Magistrate Nyakundi ordered Mr Mugo to pay a fine of Ksh10, 000 or serve a 3-month jail sentence.
