Humphrey Mayanja – the eldest brother of Ugandan singer Jose Chameleone – has provoked his mother’s wrath following his remarks about Jeff Kiwa.
Jeff Kiwa was last year tasked with the responsibility of producing a key witness – Mumbere – in the death case of Jose Chameleone’s younger brother Emmanuel Mayanja alias AK47.
Jeff Kiwa was the proprietor of Club Dejavu where AK47 was allegedly killed.
Humphrey Mayanja posted a photo of Jeff Kiwa wearing a T-shirt with words: “put some respect on my name”.
This did not go well with his mother Mrs Mayanja who did not approve of the way Humphrey publicly “celebrated the release of Jeff from prison”.
According to Mrs Mayanja, Jeff is an “enemy of the family.”
Jeff Kiwa was last month imprisoned after he was linked to the murder of a boy in Busia.
“It is bringing shame to us as a family. The biggest mistake you made was to show that Jeff is your very close friend; you could have done it on WhatsApp but not Facebook. Have you forgotten that Jeff Kiwa failed to produce Mumbere who is the witness in AK47’s death?” ranted Mrs Mayanja.
Humphrey did not take his mother’s remarks lying down. Instead, he retorted: “I am under attack for having the same opinion. My inbox is filled with gasia and posts are doing rounds on social media for my stand on this.
“I have become a disgrace to many because I have this same view. Seems like all that people wanted was not justice but for Jeff to be put away at any cost. Am not a devil like that and I always stand for truth and justice”.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, Mumbere disappeared and his whereabouts are still unknown.
Mumbere was a cleaner at Dejavu Bar and Lounge where AK47 was allegedly killed.
He had in various press interviews narrated how the incident happened and the interventions made by his bosses.
A postmortem report revealed that AK47 suffered a blunt head trauma. The report dated March 17 showed that AK47’s skull got fractured and blood entered his brain, which led to his death.
The young musician died on arrival at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala where friends had rushed him after he reportedly fell in the bar toilet, and he was on March 19 buried at Busaato village in Kalangaalo sub-county, Mityana district.
