A visually impaired girl, 16, who gave birth to a baby girl at the Isiolo Level Four Hospital on January 3, has recounted how her visually impaired English teacher at Kambi ya Juu Integrated School allegedly duped her into sleeping with him, resulting in the pregnancy.
The new mother, who is still hospitalised following childbirth, alleged that Stephen Kamindo duped her into sexual intercourse despite her protestations.
The teenager, a Standard Six pupil, alleged that Mr Kamindo had developed a habit of inviting her to his house located within Kambi ya Juu School compound.
“On my first visit to his house, he gave me Ksh50, and Ksh100 on the second visit,” said the teenager.
The girl claims Mr Kamindo forced her into sexual intercourse during her third visit to his house.
“He warned me against telling anyone about what had transpired,” said the girl.
Burat Location chief, Simon Edong’a, confirmed the incident, revealing the suspect is yet to be arrested.
Mr Edong’a said the suspect had earlier pledged to take parental responsibility.
“It is alleged he sent Ksh3, 000 to the girl through the school matron. He said the money was to be used on basic items,” said the chief.
Chief Edong’a said the teenager gave birth to the baby at her mother’s home at Kambi ya Juu before complications arose, forcing her mother to rush her to hospital.
The girl’s mother and elder brother have urged relevant authorities to apprehend the suspect, and ensure he takes full responsibility for the baby’s upbringing.
The teenager enrolled at Kambi ya Juu Integrated School three years ago after securing a scholarship.
