How Embu man lured girlfriend into a trap before killing her in cold blood

Police in Runyenjes are looking for a 34-year-old man, who on Sunday, May 14, allegedly slashed his middle-aged lover to death at Kanjatiri Village in Embu East after the woman expressed disinterest in continuing their relationship.

Confirming the incident, Embu East OCPD, Mathew Muchemi, said the suspect, Justin Kyalo, had phoned his girlfriend, Lawrencia Njeri Njeru, requesting to meet her so that he could give her money to pay her child’s school fees.

Njeri, who agreed to meet Kyalo at Kanjatiri Market, was accompanied by her friend Justa Karimi Njue.

On arriving at the location of meeting at 6:30pm on Sunday, Karimi left the lovebirds to talk, moving a long distance away.

OCPD Muchemi says Karimi heard screams of pain by Njeri a few minutes into the couple’s conversation.

When she rushed to the scene, she found Kyalo slashing Njeri with a panga in the neck.

Karimi said she raised an alarm, to which residents responded; but by the time they were arriving at the scene, Kyalo had already escaped to a nearby mango plantation.

Njeri sustained deep cuts in the legs, lower jaw and in the back of her neck. She was pronounced dead on arrival at the Karurumo Health Centre, where she had been rushed for emergency treatment.

Njeri and Kyalo were reportedly having issues in their relationship.

According to sources, Kyalo likely set up the trap after getting wind that Njeri was planning to end their relationship.

Njeri had a child from a previous relationship and Kyalo had agreed to provide for Njeri and her child.

Kyalo remains at large.
