English Point Marina’s top security management says Chris Brown checked in to the hotel at around 11:30am Saturday – and no “phone smashing” took place at the hotel reception, contrary to an SMS alert sent by The Daily Nation.
The security boss refuted reports that the global R &B sensation smashed the receptionists’ phone, explaining that no such incident could have taken place as the hotel had removed all staff from the reception as part of the star’s privacy arrangement.
“Nothing of the sort has come to my attention. In fact no staff was even allowed to be at the reception when the singer checked in at 11:30am. His security detail requested for such privacy arrangements. I can authoritatively say Brown checked in peacefully, and went to a room reserved for him, accompanied by his team,” stated the security boss.
These reports were echoed by another English Point Marina staffer.
“Reports about him ‘smashing a phone’ are news to me as no English Point Marina worker has filed a complaint of the said incident with me,” said a lady, among top security management at the accommodation facility, who sought anonymity.
The paper’s sister publication, Nairobi News, had earlier in the day reported that the R&B star had smashed a fan’s phone at Moi International Airport when he touched down Saturday 10am – an allegation that has been refuted also been refuted by Moi International Airport security.
Chris Brown will Saturday afternoon (October 8) perform at the Mombasa Golf Club in an event dubbed “Mombasa Rocks Festival”.
Nigeria’s Wizkid will also take to the stage alongside Tanzania’s Ali Kiba, Vanessa Mdee, Uganda’s Navio and Kenya’s Nazizi.
