Hospitalised man loses Ksh47, 000 to commercial sex worker in Thika

A middle-aged man is recuperating at a Thika hospital after he was sedated by a commercial sex worker, whom he had hired for a night last weekend.

The man, who booked himself into lodging, accompanied with the sex worker, lost his phone and Ksh47, 000 was transferred from his phone number to that of Nancy Wairimu in unclear circumstances.

Speaking from his hospital bed, the victim, Joseph Njoroge, said he’d gone into a local pub for a drink last weekend, when “some men and women came to where I was seated and made their order”.

“After a while, they engaged me in a conversation, which resulted into friendship,” he said.

Njoroge recounts getting romantically close to one of the women, who would later agree to spend the night with him.

He booked a room in one of the guest houses in Thika town. Njoroge says after getting into the room, he does not know what transpired.

He says he found himself on a hospital bed after regaining consciousness.

“I do not know how I got here,” he said.

Njoroge said he found his mobile phone missing, and on calling Safaricom customer care to find out his M-Pesa balance, he was shocked to discover that Ksh47, 000 had been transferred from his account.

Juja police are investigating the matter.
