Beasts of No Nation star Idris Elba on Saturday morning proposed to girlfriend Sabrina Dhowre in front of a packed cinema.
The 45-year-old Hollywood star proposed to his girlfriend of Somali descent at the Rio Cinema in London during the premier of his directorial debut movie Yardie.
Sabrina – who is 16 years younger than the London-born actor, besides being a former beauty queen and Miss Vancouver 2014 – reportedly said “Yes” to Elba’s proposal, to much cheers from the audience.
Elba, who has previously been married twice, told Essence magazine in a 2017 interview that he had absolutely no desire to ever walk down the isle again.
“Am I ever gonna get remarried? I don’t think so. Yeah, I don’t think so. Marriage is an institution of sorts. And I’ve done it. It’s not for everybody,” said the star during the interview.
The Bastille Day actor was previously married to Hanne Norgaard from 1999 to 2003 (they share a daughter, 16-year-old Isan) and Sonya Nicole Hamlin for less than a year in 2006.
He also has a 3-year-old son, Winston, with make-up artist Naiyana Garth.
Confirming the news of Elba’s proposal via their official Twitter handle, Rio Cinema said, “Still 5 days to Valentines Day but @idriselba went down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend live on stage this morning before a preview of his film…”
