Patrick Musila won the hearts of many Kenyans with his resolve to selflessly love his wife of 12 years Gertrude Nekesa despite Nekesa losing her womb in 2014 and suffering cheek tumors in 2016.
Mr Musila exclusively narrated to eDaily the health challenges his wife has gone through.
“It was in August, 2014 that my wife had her uterus removed at the Thika Level 5 Hospital. The doctors said she had fibroids. They had grown so large over the years, and they had to remove them to save her life,” said Patrick.
One and a half years later Gertrude developed tumors in the face and they had to be removed. Patrick took her to Kenyatta National Hospital where surgeries to remove the tumors were performed on Gertrude. As a result, some flesh and part of her left jaw were removed, leaving a ‘hole’ in her face.
And even after all these challenges, Patrick firmly stated: “I promise to love my wife forever, and vow to do everything to see her get back to good health. (And about children, we would adopt). It is God that blesses couples with children. We accept our situation. We know God has many good plans for my wife and I.”
It is this testimony that has moved renowned gospel artiste Janet Otieno who has a special message for Mr Musila.
“God really looks at the heart; that his (Musila’s) heart is pure concerning his resolve. That alone is enough just for God to bring down the healing and to make his woman to recover fully. His act of selflessness is so beautiful, can’t you see? I even don’t know how to explain it. Not so many people can do what Musila did,” Janet told eDaily.
“Because of just one thing he is doing, God is going to turn around everything for him – and things are going to be beautiful. He will be grateful to himself for his self-sacrificing act. And it is my prayer that God is going to do something for him. Not very many men are like him. I am so touched by his selflessness.”
