Kisii-based Gospel musician Chris Embarambamba is on the spotlight again, this time for all the wrong reasons.
The singer/performer has elicited outrage from a section of Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) after clips of his recent performance at a nightclub went viral.
Embarambamba, in the videos, while performing at the Gusii Urban Hangout Party held at Klub Laviva & Lounge in Ruiru on Sunday, pulled a couple of moves that did not sit right by a majority of Kenyans on social media.
The singer is seen lifting up a man, in one video, and a woman, in yet another, and dropping them to the floor before proceeding to seemingly bounce on them in a perceived explicit manner.
Among those who have since criticised Embarambamba include KFCB boss Ezekiel Mutua, Trade CAS David Osiany, as well as NTV news anchor Lofty Matambo who expressed embarrassment and disappointment having been one of the media personalities that gave the musician a national platform.
Embarambamba has since however come out to defend himself urging Kenyans to first understand the context of the song he was performing to, which he said warns against sexual immorality.
“The song I was dancing to basically talks about how people engage in worldly pleasures and forget God. It is a Kisii song. Jesus came to the world for sinners, not the righteous. That is why He freely dined with sinners, to teach them about the kingdom of God,” he said.
“You cannot tell me to avoid nightclubs, discotheques and political rallies yet they are part of us. We are on earth to follow Christ’s teachings.”
Below are the videos and the comments from social media:

Embarambamba this is GROSSLY INCORRECT. You listened to cheering voices of deceit and ran yourself into destruction. What you have done today is INEXCUSABLE.

I am highly embarrassed by @embarambamba
as one of those who offered him Support including interviewing him on a decent National platform.
The video going round is dirty , not anywhere close to what he purports to be :- A gospel Artist.

Embarambamba reminds me the old adage that has become just too familiar. Social media can build you, and it can completely destroy you.
