Police in Bungoma County have arrested a middle-aged man who attempted to bury his mother alive on Thursday, August 24.
It is alleged Chris Wamalwa and his mother, Beatrice, fell out over a family parcel of land.
Police gathered that Wamalwa, who hails from Siuna Village in Kabuchai Constituency, dug a grave Thursday afternoon, threw his mother inside it and started filling the grave.
Wamalwa decided to take that action after he learnt that his mother had sold a piece of land, which he was eying for inheritance, police said.
Passersby intervened before Wamalwa could fill the grave. It is his mother’s screams, which attracted the crowd.
With the help of Siuna Village elder, police arrived at scene and arrested Wamalwa.
Neighbours said Wamalwa and his mother were constantly at loggerheads.
Wamalwa’s mother is currently admitted at the Bungoma County Referral Hospital, where she is receiving treatment.
