A Form Four student at Witharaga Secondary School in Suna East Sub-County in Migori County has gone missing.
The student, Martin Omondi, went missing Tuesday evening (November 21) in unclear circumstances. He was from sitting his KCSE exam.
Omondi, however, sent his girlfriend a text message shortly after his disappearance, saying he had been kidnapped.
Migori County police boss Joseph Nthenge said the boy’s parents filed a report with authorities Monday evening.
The distressed parents said the student was at home Tuesday evening after returning from school, He thereafter left to go study at a nearby school at 7pm, and that was the last time they saw him.
Mr Nthenge said the student sent a text message to his girlfriend, saying he had been kidnapped by unknown individuals.
When the boy’s lover and her parents tried reaching him on phone, the cell phone he had used to communicate with them earlier, had been switched off.
Mr Nthenge said they have launched a search for the missing student and the alleged kidnappers.
According to Omondi’s head teacher, Gedion Odhiambo, the missing student was a top performer in his class.
The student repeated Form Four this year after he scored a C (Plain) in last year’s KCSE.
Omondi was remaining with two tests, Chemistry and Biology, to complete his KCSE examination.
