Forbes: These 4 Kenyans likely to be billionaires of tomorrow – PHOTOS

Four Kenyans Leroy Mwasaru, 20, Leonida Mutuku, 29, Huston Malande, 28, and June Syowia, 23, have featured in the 2018 Forbes list of Top 30 Under 30 entrepreneurs, entertainers and technologists in Africa.

All the four were listed under the business category in a list released by Forbes Africa on Monday, June 4.

Mwasaru is the founder of Greenpact; Mutuku is the founder of Intelipro; Malande is the founder of Skyline Design and Syowia is the founder of Beiless Group.

Intelipro is a company that builds analytics platforms for financial institutions and retail organizations.

“I am the project lead at Africa Open Data Network, a community of Africans, and friends of Africa, who believe in the continent’s development agenda and how open data can help make it a reality. Previously, I led the Research and Data Science teams at iHub, Nairobi’s Innovation Hub. In these capacities, I spearheaded a team of local researchers to conduct groundbreaking research on the uses and approaches to technology in Africa,” says Mutuku.

Greenpact aims at availing Biogas solutions to curb mainstream problems. “Greenpact is dedicated to providing clean cooking gas from what many consider to be ‘waste’,” says Mwasaru.

Beiless Group is an advertising and marketing agency. It also engages in website design, digital marketing and experiential marketing.

The young entrepreneurs feature on the Forbes list alongside Nigeria’s top acts Davido,25, Falz, 27, Yemi Alade, 29, and Wizkid, 27, who were categorized under the creatives classification.

Other notable figures, who made the list, include South Africa’s Cassper Nyovest, 27, Nasty C, 21, and Ghana’s Sarkodie, 29.

Forbes Africa says extensive research went into settling on the 2018 Under 30 honorees.

“We put in months of rigorous research, sifting through over 600 nominations, vetting them for weeks, verifying and investigating them. We favored entrepreneurs with fresh ideas and took into account their business size, revenue, location, potential, struggles, social impact and resilience,” said Forbes.

“A panel of judges then debated the final 90. You may not know many of their names now and they may not be richest people in Africa, but they could be the billionaires of tomorrow gracing our future covers. This compilation is exciting, inspiring and offers a sneak peek into Africa’s future,” said Forbes.
