Kenyan stand-up comedian Eric Omondi and his fiancée Chantal Grazioli are currently in New York celebrating Ms Grazioli’s birthday.
On Wednesday night, Eric Omondi involved the US marine in surprising his fiancée at Times Square – a landmark commercial intersection and neighborhood in Midtown Manhattan, New York City that is often featured in romance films.
The pair that was taking a stroll at the Square and capturing the moment on video, stopped at a spot and US marine – all dressed in white – seemingly approaching from the opposite direction photo bombed the adorable pair’s selfie; a stunt that was ostensibly organised by Omondi.
The unusually shy Chantal looked surprised when jets flew above them – and when she was pulling herself together, the marine men joined them for a photo.
Chantal bolted – prompting the men in white to persuade her to come feature in the picture.
“Wooooooi the men in white (Service Men, U.S Marine) wameshtua birthday girl,” Eric Omondi wrote on Instagram.
The New York tour came as a surprise to Chantal – who until arriving at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport check-point – knew that they were flying to Zanzibar.
Omondi has described his fiancée, who is rumoured to be heavy with his child, as an “angel” and “my one and only”.
““Your smile is everything. Your heart is pure Gold. I have prayed to God Almighty since I was in Form Two that He alone might bring me an angel. He did and I am forever grateful. I promise to love you, to protect you and to provide you with all that brings you joy and happiness. You are my one and only! Thank you for listening to God, Thank you for coming down from above my love, my angel. I love you. Happy birthday baby,” Eric Omondi posted on Instagram Tuesday, May 24.
Eric Omondi has packaged himself as a true romantic who will go to the ends of the world just to make his flame happy.
In September, 2015 the comedian welcomed Chantal to Kenya in an unparalleled fashion after her international trip to Razzmatazz.
He hired top dance crew FBI to perform a routine for the “queen” when she arrived – as he put it, in a bid to surprise her at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
Just as Chantal was walking through the arrivals terminal with her luggage, FBI dancers together with Eric Omondi broke into a routine, dancing to Naija top hit My Woman My Everything by Patoranking featuring Wande Coal.
The stunt attracted a crowd of other passengers, airport staff and passers-by, who watched the routine as Chantal blushed.
The pair is engaged and will probably tie the knot this year. Chantal is half Kenyan-half Italian.
