Emotions high following Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid exit

Real Madrid fans can’t believe they will begin the 2018/2019 season without their record goal-scorer Cristiano Ronaldo, who has since signed for Italian champions Juventus.

In their hundreds of thousands, they took to micro-blogging site, Twitter, to express their emotions at the departure of the highly-talented forward.

Ronaldo has served Real Madrid for nine years; has won the Champions League four times with the club; and has broken nearly every record he needed to.

And now, the Los Blancos fans are finding it hard to believe he won’t feature as their player, again.

Many of Ronaldo’s fans hinted that they would follow he to Juventus.

Juventus’ fans, on the other hand, celebrate the forward’s arrival in Turin.

Cristiano Ronaldo, 33, moved to Juventus from the Spanish giants for a transfer deal worth for Ksh13.3 billion (£99.2 million).

His stay at the Italian club will be four years, beginning the 2018/2019 season.

Ronaldo will pocket Ksh66.9 million (£500,000) weekly at Juventus.

The Portuguese legend has since shared an emotional goodbye message with his Real Madrid fans.

“Real Madrid has conquered my heart, and that of my family, and that is why more than ever I want to say thank you: thanks to the club, the President, the directors, my colleagues, all the technical staff, doctors, physios and incredible workers that make everything work, that tirelessly pursue every minute detail,” said Ronaldo in a statement shared on different European media.

“Thank you infinitely once more to our fans and thanks also to Spanish Football. During these nine exciting years I have played against great players. My respect and my recognition for all of them,” he added.

“Thanks to everyone and, of course, as I said that first time in our stadium nine years ago: Hala Madrid!” said Ronaldo.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, said Ronaldo will always have a place in the club’s history.

“For Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo will always be one of the great symbols,” said Real Madrid in a statement.

“Real Madrid wants to express its gratitude to a player who has proved to be the best in the world and who has marked one of the brightest times in the history of our club and world football. Real Madrid will always be your home.”
