Each and every home has a smell.
It can be a good welcoming smell or an offending odour – more often than not, it is the latter.
Emanating from pets, cigarettes, stale perfumes, cooked food, bathroom odours and others, such smells can hang around ones home.
Affected? Not to worry. You can easily eliminate the stench using the four methods:
- Using nature’s air freshener
This is the first alternative you should take. Opening the windows and taking the smelly items out in the sunshine.
Often, airing blankets curtains and other household items will deodorize them.
Take it a notch higher by bringing some fragrant flowers in the house.
- Using Vinegar
Before you go to bed at night, set a bowl of distilled white vinegar in the room.
In the morning when you wake up the room will be fresh as it expunges odors, even annoying ones like cigarette smoke.
A cup of vinegar also can make a toilet fresh and wiping a fridge with a dash of vinegar will expel unappetizing odours.
- Masking the smell
Burning scented candles or incense will be sure to chase the smell away temporarily.
Using air fresheners from your local supermarket may also come in handy.
If you prefer a more unscented method use a dry spray or odors absorbing gel for those materials that are uneasy to wash.
- Using baking soda and lemon juice
Mix a small amount of baking soda and squeezed lemon in a bottle spray. Spray the room to get that fresh misty air smell.
