Police in Budalangi, Busia County are looking for a 19-year-old man who attempted to kill his ex-girlfriend, 20, after she dumped him.
The suspect, Oduor Musikhe, allegedly accosted the victim, Sharon Okello, a Form Three student at St. Theresa-Mundere Girls’ Secondary School, on Thursday morning when she was going to school in the company of her schoolmates.
It is alleged Musikhe, a boda boda rider, tried stabbing Sharon with a kitchen knife, but a fisherman, who was passing by, wrestled and snatched the weapon from the aggressor, who ran away. The incident happened at Mudembi Village in Bunyala North.
Sharon’s mother, Margaret Anyango, says her daughter and her aggressor were in a romantic relationship, which ended recently after the student said she wanted to concentrate on her education.
Anyango says Musikhe had recently approached her daughter at her [Anyango’s] home and vowed to “stab her to death one day if she continued rejecting his quest for a reunion”.
The suspect’s father, Charles Otieno, said his son hasn’t returned home since being linked to the attempted murder.
