Did she sign a marriage certificate – or not? Eunice Njeri explanation leaves fans confused

When news recently broke about gospel star Eunice Njeri’s unmaterialised marriage to Isaac Bukasa, after the couple’s November 2016 wedding ceremony in Texas, sections were shocked and took her word for it – that no formal papers to legalise their union were signed.

“To all who supported Isaac and I, am grateful may God bless you immensely. To all who were hurt in the process I apologise. The marriage was annulled (like it never happened). No papers were signed,” Eunice Njeri said on Tuesday, when she broke the news about her separation from Mr Bukasa.

However, a video has surfaced showing that indeed “papers were signed” after the wedding ceremony, leaving many fans confused – as to what was being signed then.

Well, Eunice Njeri says that what their union “witnesses” and “pastor” signed was a marriage license.

“In Texas, the final certificate is signed in court. What you see here is the signing of marriage license by the witnesses and pastor. The certificate expires after 30 days if not resubmitted to the court. To avoid the process of divorce, I chose to let it expire. Like I said, I did not go to the altar. The final certificate was not signed. If you check this video well, you will notice that the paper I sign is empty – and this was a formality for the photos. Pastor King’ori graciously showed us the process. I am the one who chose not to go through to the end.”

Eunice Njeri wrote the post on Facebook but later deleted it.

Eunice Njeri and Isaac Bukasa appeared to have exchanged vows at Neema Gospel Church in Texas, USA, in late November last year – just two weeks after they had held a pre-wedding ceremony at the same venue.

Eunice Njeri looked stunning in a strapless A-Line gown, complete with a lacy train. Her then-groom Isaac Bukasa was also dapper in a fitting dark suit.

Bridesmaids wore gorgeous floor-length teal dresses, as groomsmen complemented the ladies’ outfits with aqua ties on white shirts.

The wedding took place two months after Eunice Njeri accepted Isaac Bukasa’s proposal. Bukasa had been dating Eunice Njeri for nearly two years before popping the big question to her.

As it emerged earlier this week, the wedding did not transition into marriage after Eunice Njeri had a change of heart on the same day – and quit the relationship.

Eunice Njeri took to her official social media pages Wednesday to inform her fans about the news, saying she wants to commit to serving God.

She wrote: “On the 27th Nov 2016, Isaac and I did go to the altar to get married, but at the end of that day I realized one thing,i couldn’t do it my heart was somewhere else,

“Probably in Africa doing what I do best, am still trying to figure that out. I immediately left for Kenya and have been serving God the best way I know how.

“To all who supported Isaac and I, am grateful may God bless you immensely. To all who were hurt in the process I apologise. The marriage was annulled (like it never happened). No papers were signed.

“Afterwards and we both made a decision to go our separate ways. I hope for your support and help as we move on. Like every other relationship we hit a rock, maybe a little too early but have since overcome.

“Consequently, we have decided to go our separate ways and hope for the very best. God bless you.”

A source has revealed to EDAILY that it is true, Eunice Njeri and Isaac Bukasa are no longer an item.
