Award-winning Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz has said he and his famous ex-girlfriend Wema Sepetu “communicate a lot” and that they often meet up “without media presence”.
Speaking to Tanzania’s Clouds FM, Diamond Platnumz showered praise on Wema Sepetu’s business acumen, saying the top actress is behind the catchy tagline he uses on his fragrance line ‘Chibu Perfume’.
“Wema Sepetu and I communicate a lot on phone. We also meet up time and again, but away from the presence of the media or people’s knowledge. We have really matured. Each of us is concentrating on his or her relationship. She (Wema) has her own family. But the nature of our relationship is purely hinged on elevating each other’s business. That explains why Wema helped me come up with the catch phrase “The Scent You Deserve” for my fragrance line,” Diamond Platnumz said during an interview on the XXL show.
Diamond Platnumz and Wema Sepetu, an ex-pair that was the envy of many across the East African region, broke up in November, 2014 after a series of cheating allegations were leveled against the Utanipenda hit-maker by the Miss Tanzania 2006.
Diamond Platnumz is currently dating wealthy Ugandan socialite, Zari Hassan, with whom they have two children together.
In March last year, reports surfaced online, claiming Diamond Platnumz’s mother, Sanura Kassim, prefers Wema Sepetu to Zari Hassan.
“I believe Zari and her mother-in-law are not in good terms. Even Diamond’s sister Esma Platnumz does not get along with Zari,” an insider told Tanzania’s Global Publishers.
When Sanura Kasim was reached for comment she refuted the claims that she was not in good terms with Zari.
“Zari and I don’t have any dispute. Go and ask the one who told you that there are disagreements between us to tell you more,” said Ms Kassim.
In a separate interview with Tanzania’s Global Publishers, Sanura Kassim said Wema Sepetu would always be close to her heart. “I have never quarreled with Wema Sepetu. It is they (Diamond and Wema) who could not steer their love boat. However, I welcome Wema to my place any time of day or night. My place is like her place. She is a good lady and my happiness is to see her close to my son – even if they are just friends,” she said.
Wema Sepetu received a birthday message from Sanura on her 28th birthday on September 28, 2016. Zari Hassan had turned 36 on September 23 – and she did not receive a birthday message from Sanura – at least on Instagram, brewing speculation online that it could be true that she (Zari) wasn’t Sanura’s preffered choice for daughter-in-law.
Diamond told Risasi Newspaper in a March, 2016 interview that unlike Zari Hassan, his exes Wema Sepetu, Jokate Mwegelo, Penniel Mungilwa among others did not want to give him children.
“I love children. Luckily, God finally gave me a partner who also has love for kids. I therefore see no harm in having another baby. I will advance my family gradually. My musical career is demanding and at the same time I am supposed to be available for my family. I will plan effectively. I have faith all shall be well,” said Diamond Platnumz.
