Gor Mahia’s new signing Dennis Oliech scored his first goal for the KPL champions, and Twitter went into a frenzy, with the striker gobbling the top trending spot in Kenya.

Dennis Oliech scored the winning goal against Posta Rangers at Kasarani Stadium, in a match that ended 2-1 in favour of K’Ogalo.

Twitter users took to the micro-blogging website to express their delight at that development.

Nerea Enock said: “Dennis Oliech proves that never judge a book by its cover.”

Ali Kauleni Hassan said: “Dennis Oliech is doing what he was born to do.”

Ombeva Joseph said: “Those who were busy critcising Gor Mahia for giving Dennis Oliech a contract are now swallowing their words. Oliech scored today: it is just the beginning.”

Ben Kirwa said: “Dennis Oliech knows the real meaning of another chance. He is really playing at his best than when he was younger.”

Kwale Gunner said: “I do not know where to hide. I was among the people who said that Oliech is an old striker and may struggle to find the back of the net.”

Atanas said: “Haters [of Oliech] please come out of your caves and enjoy the sun. K’Ogalo fortunes will be better in the coming days.”

Gor Mahia signed Mr Oliech on a two-year contract on January 2, with unconfirmed reports claiming the forward would earn a monthly pay of Ksh250, 000 at the football club.

Tuesday’s results see Gor Mahia lying fifth in the league table with 10 points after playing six games. Posta Rangers, on the other hand, lies at position 14 with 6 points.

Mathare United sits at the top of the table with 14 points.
