Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz has postponed his wedding plan with Kenyan beauty, Tanasha Oketch, as allegations swirl online that the love between the pair was only founded on a need to hype the singer’s Wasafi shows in Kenya last December.
Pundits argue that now that the festivals, which were sponsored by Kenya’s NRG Radio, where Tanasha works, are over, it is time “to go back to factory settings”, meaning Platnumz is a single man again!
Speaking recently to Wasafi TV, Diamond said he is changing his wedding date to the Kenyan beauty from February 14 to a later date because he “wants the ceremony to be grand, and one that will be attended by ‘many people’.”
“My wedding was supposed to be held on Valentine’s Day – February 14 –, but we have postponed it. Many people are supposed to attend the ceremony. I expect the likes of Rick Ross, among other high-profile entertainment figures, to be in attendance,” said Diamond.
The fact that the singer has not announced the fresh wedding date raises eyebrows, according to sections online.
In November last year, Diamond confirmed that he was in a relationship with Tanasha Oketch, an announcement that caught many of his followers by surprise.
Some speculated that the relationship was born out of an agreement NRG had signed with Wasafi team; and that the ‘relationship’ was to last the period in which the radio station sponsored the artistes shows in Kenya.
In a span of just two months, much has been written about the couple, and quite a fair share of drama has surrounded their lives, with Tanasha Oketch announcing in mid-December last year that she wanted to keep her relationship with the singer private, hence her then-decision to delete the musician’s pictures from her social media pages.
However, a few days to Diamond’s Wasafi Festival shows in Embu, Mombasa and Nairobi, Ms Oketch and Diamond resumed to sharing each other’s photographs on their individual social media pages, prompting the rumour mill to be rife with speculations that Ms Oketch pulled the stunt to create buzz around them, especially Diamond, ahead of the shows.
Nether Diamond nor Tanasha has come out to deny or confirm the speculations — that their love’s purpose was to create publicity around them.
In December last year, Diamond kicked up an online storm, when she threw shade at his ex-lover Zari Hassan, saying Ms Oketch, has a better body shape, facial features and character than the Ugandan socialite.
Speaking to Tanzania’s Ijumaa newspaper, the “Kwangwaru” star said none of the women he dated in the past – including Ms Hassan – wanted to settle down with him, and that it is only Tanasha Oketch, who accepted to be his wife.
“Tanasha Oketch is the only woman who has shown me that she takes seriously my desire to have a wife. And, as a result of her commitment, I hereby say – officially – that she is the one I will marry,” Diamond told Ijumaa newspaper.
“Tanasha Oketch has all the qualities that I am looking for in a wife. However, you know most of us [men] tend to look at aesthetical features such as facial attractiveness, body shape and other bodily qualities. After being sure of those, it is when we embark on evaluating the woman’s character. I would like to say that I have keenly subjected Ms Oketch to all those parameters, and I am convinced beyond doubt that she is well-bred and is very beautiful,” said Diamond Platnumz.
The musician further said that Tanasha Oketch introduced him to her family when he visited Kenya early December ahead of his event in Thika.
