BY MARTIN MUNENE IN NYERI COUNTY.
A youthful man was arrested Friday morning outside Dedan Kimathi University of Technology in Nyeri on suspicion of wearing explosives.
Nyeri County Commissioner, Fredrick Shisia, says the suspect, a student at Nyeri Polytechnic, was wearing gadgets, which resemble explosives, around his waist and the upper part of his body.
Bomb squad officers removed the suspicious objects from the student’s body Friday afternoon.
“They [gadgets] were harmless, an evaluation conducted on them showed,” said Mr Shisia.
According to the suspect, the devices were body toners.
Police are expected to free the suspect.
Electronic body toning devices help firm body skin while smoothing away the look of dimples.
The micro-current gadgets are bought for as low as Ksh9000 to as high Ksh100, 000.
