A 19-year-old woman, Elizabeth Nekesa, on Saturday, August 26 gave birth to a bouncing baby boy aboard a Mombasa-bound bus.

Nekesa went into labor at Makindu, Machakos County.

Older women turned the bus seat into a temporary maternity by shielding Nekesa using lesos; and assisting her during childbirth.

The mother and son were admitted at Makindu District Hospital.

Nekesa’s mother, Beatrice Kwamboka, accompanied the new mother to hospital.

Elizabeth Nekesa is a student at Coast Institute of Technology, which is situated in Tsavo area 2 kilometers away from Voi Town in Taita Taveta County.
