Chris Brown always has a place in my heart – Rihanna’s father

Despite losing a huge following after being charged with domestic abuse against ex-girlfriend, Rihanna in 2009, Chris Brown seemingly has a permanent place in the heart of the Bajan beauty’s father, Ronald Fenty.

Mr Fenty told The Daily Mirror that he would ‘support’ a romantic reunion between the former flames.

“Chris will always have a place in our family and my heart,” he told the publication.

“He respects me, calls me “pops” and I like him – despite what happened. He’s very talented and always humble. I’d support them being together,” added the 54-year-old.

Mr Fenty’s confession comes after the lyrics on Rihanna’s track Love on the Brain, from her upcoming album Anti, caused many to speculate if she was talking about her Loyal crooner ex.

Speaking candidly, Ronald confessed that a gang offered to avenge Rihanna by attacking Chris shortly after the domestic abuse occurred.

He (Ronald) was tempted to oblige to before having a sudden change of heart.

Chris Brown was sentenced to five years of probation following the assault, after which he and the 27-year-old split.

The pair would in 2012 famously get back together, with Rihanna admitting to Vanity Fair in 2015 that she thought she could change the pop star.

“I was very protective of him. I felt that people didn’t understand him. Even after… But you know, you realise after a while that in that situation you’re the enemy,” she explained.

“You want the best for them, but if you remind them of their failures, or if you remind them of bad moments in their life, or even if you say I’m willing to put up with something, they think less of you – because they know you don’t deserve what they’re going to give.”

“And if you put up with it, maybe you are agreeing that you [deserve] this, and that’s when I finally had to say, ‘Uh-oh, I was stupid thinking I was built for this.’ Sometimes you just have to walk away,” said Rihanna.
