A 50-year-old woman from Matayos is nursing injuries at the Busia Referral Hospital after she was allegedly clobbered using a ‘rungu’ by Township chief Charles Oundo.

Esther Ombajo claims the chief beat her up last weekend after she had erected a fence on a piece of land, which both Mr Oundo and Ms Ombajo are laying claim to.

She sustained injuries to the head, arm and back.

Ms Ombajo claims she was accompanied to the chief’s home by a village elder, when the incident happened.

She says she had gone to negotiate with the administrator, who turned against her.

Ms Ombajo claims the beating left her bleeding profusely.

Busia County deputy commissioner, Fredrick Ayieko, however, claims Ms Ombajo verbally abused and slapped chief Oundo, who got angry and retaliated.

Ms Ombajo denied Mr Ayieko’s allegations.

Mr Ayieko says police are investigating the incident.
