Changamwe MP arrested

Changamwe Member of Parliament Omar Mwinyi is being held at the Bandarini Police Station in Mombasa County on suspicion of hiring youth to destroy ODM ballot materials at Bomu Primary School in Changamwe on Saturday, April 22.

According to Changamwe OCPD, Peter Omanwa, Mr Mwinyi was arrested after allegedly provoking violence at the polling station, claiming that there were plans by his political rival to rig him out of the nomination.

Mr Omanwa says that the Changamwe legislator was apprehended after he allegedly hired youth to destroy ballot papers, and consequently disrupt the process.

MP Mwinyi is competing against Ally Goshi for an ODM ticket in the Mombasa County primaries, that will see either of them run for Changamwe Parliamentary seat on the Party’s ticket in August 8 general election.
