A 38-year-old man is being detained at Malaba Police Station over allegations of stealing a vehicle belonging to the wife of 2013 presidential aspirant Peter Kenneth.

According to Busia County Police commander Halima Abdi Mohammed, Simon Muthee was arrested Monday evening while driving the vehicle which was stolen in Nairobi last weekend.

Halima said the Range Rover Freelander had its registration plate changed from KCD 122D to UAW 342D.

The car was towed to Malaba police post as locally based authorities wait for officers from Nairobi to take over the case.

Halima adds security in the border has been beefed up as Kenyan officers are working closely with their Ugandan counterparts.

The car was robbed off from Ms Ann Wanjiru Kenneth on Saturday night in a robbery in Kyuna area, Nairobi.
