Shock engulfed residents of Kawamang’aria Village in Rarieda Sub-County Wednesday, May 9, when the body of an 11-year-old boy was found hanging from a tree.
Ibrahim Odhiambo Opiyo was found dead in a church compound, 400 meters away from Kawamang’aria Primary School, where he was studying.
The school head teacher, Everline Abong’o, told EDAILY that Opiyo had left school for home Wednesday evening, only for his body to be discovered dead a few hours later.
Opiyo was found hanging on a rope tied to a tree at Kawamang’aria Anglican Church.
The cause of his suicidal ideation is yet to be established.
Ms Abong’o eulogized the late Opiyo as a “jovial” and “humble” pupil.
Police have launched an investigation into the boy’s death.
