Controversial blogger Robert Alai says businessman Jacob Juma was killed way past 10pm, contrary to reports fronted by several agencies.
Alai says Mr Juma’s WhatsApp was active as at 10pm – and that his slayers assassinated him much later.
Alai was speaking at Jacob Juma’s requiem service that was held at the All Saints Cathedral Thursday 10:00am.
Jacob Juma was shot dead on Thursday, May 5 by unknown gunmen in Nairobi near Lenana School.
“JacobJuma did not die as we were told; he was still alive past 10:00pm. His WhatsApp was active,” Alai told mourners, adding: “He must have died somewhere around midnight. We demand the truth about our friend’s death.”
Alai recounted the moments he spoke to the late Juma who time and again expressed concern over his security.
“Jacob Juma was a soft-spoken and bold man. After a BBC show I told him that he is very careless with his life. He, however, said that: ‘…if they want to take my life, they will do it’. Three or four months later, it actually happened.”
Alai also claimed that Mr Juma, in January 2015, provided vital information that proved Lang’ata Road Primary School land was grabbed by private developers.
“Jacob Juma furnished us with documents that helped us prove the Langata playground land grabbing,” Alai said.
Jacob Juma will be laid to rest at Mungore village, Khasoko area of Bumula Constituency on Saturday, May 14.
