Betty Kyallo breathing fire over fabricated newspaper quotes about Okari

K24 news anchor Betty Kyallo is a disappointed woman.

Ms Kyallo has called out Standard newspaper’s Pulse magazine for “cooking” quotes in a bid to make an interview she had done nearly seven months ago with the outlet appear current.

On top of that, Ms Kyallo claims she has not spoken – in any way – about her ex-husband Dennis Okari’s marriage.

In the article, Betty is quoted as saying she did not call Mr Okari to wish him and his wife, Naomi Joy, a happy marriage.

Per Pulse, Ms Kyallo said despite not keeping in touch with Mr Okari on his wedding day, she suspects the NTV journalist is “happy” in his new marriage.

“[I could not call Okari on that day because] it was their wedding and their private day, [it was] not mine. They are happy, and I do not know if it would make a lot of difference if I tried to involve myself,” Betty Kyallo is quoted as saying by Pulse.

The TV star has now come out to refute having made those remarks, let alone granting a recent interview to Pulse magazine.

What a shame Pulse Magazine. You used an interview I did 7 months ago just to make a story relevant now. How unprofessional and uncouth. Steve Muendo we did an interview August last year, but in this article you deliberately decided to make it sound like we did the interview recently which is misleading and a lie,. Even fabricated lies about what I said in the last one week just to make a connection to unrelated event. What a shame for a publication like yours. Desperate to sell copies by using my name. Some of the pictures You used Were from a recent event I attended, you referred to a trip and supposed relationship that I've never discussed with you. I just want to tell the public that I didn't comment recently on any of the things in this article and that the writer Steve whom I actually considered a friend fabricated a lot of this article. The last time I spoke to the writer on a professional level was in August 2018 during a previous recorded interview but he's used that to fabricate a story relevant For now. Just unfortunate and disappointing!

Taking to her Instagram page on Friday, February 22, Ms Kyallo said: “What a shame Pulse magazine. You used an interview I did 7 months ago just to make a story relevant now. How unprofessional and uncouth.”

“[Pulse editor] Steve Muendo, we did an interview [in] August last year, but in this article you deliberately decided to make it sound like we did the interview recently, which is misleading and a lie,” said the TV queen.

“[You] even fabricated lies about what I said in the last one week just to make a connection to unrelated event. What a shame for a publication like yours.

“[you are] desperate to sell copies by using my name. Some of the pictures you used were from a recent event I attended; you referred to a trip and supposed relationship that I’ve never discussed with you,” said a furious Ms Kyallo.

“I just want to tell the public that I didn’t comment recently on any of the things in this article and that the writer Steve [Muendo], whom I actually considered a friend, fabricated a lot of this article. The last time I spoke to the writer on a professional level, was in August 2018 during a previous recorded interview. However, he has used that to fabricate a story relevant for now. Just unfortunate and disappointing!” said Ms Kyallo.

EDAILY had earlier Friday, February 22, written a story on Ms Kyallo and attributed it to Pulse – a reputable entertainment pull-out. The story has since been pulled down from our website.

We apologise for embarrassment the article could have brought to Betty Kyallo.
